Engineering-controlled plated repair for underwater hull damage

With the vessel’s loaded and ballast conditions maintained, the damaged area was prepared following naval architecture review and a controlled, gasketed steel plate intervention was carried out with watertight integrity as the primary objective.

01 / TECHNICAL DOSSIER

Operating condition

The intervention was planned with the vessel’s existing loaded and ballast conditions maintained, while keeping client and vessel identity confidential. The damage boundary and sound attachment points were established from the field findings.

Engineering assessment

Plate geometry, access and the prevailing operating condition were assessed through naval architecture review.

03 / TECHNICAL DOSSIER

Controlled intervention

A 30 × 30 cm area was prepared under controlled conditions; the gasketed steel plate system was installed using an 8 mm steel plate and a 2 mm gasket.

04 / TECHNICAL DOSSIER

Verification record

Following installation, watertightness was checked and the intervention area was completed with a recorded protective underwater epoxy application. The intervention was verified through a watertightness check, protective epoxy application and a traceable photographic field record.
